The new ranges of ball screw jacks suit heavy duty applications with medium to high linear speeds. Combining ball screw with screw jack technology suits cases where you need:

• high efficiency from 65 to 90%
• high duty cycles up to 100%
• longer operational life
• reduced power requirement
• more compact dimensions

Typically ball screw jacks will be chosen if duty cycles exceed 40%, speeds are in excess of 100mm/s or if more compact dimensions are required. The lower cost option of ACME screw jacks suits duties up to 30-40% and speeds from 0.2 to typically 100 mm/s, but can run faster. See the quick selector download for more information.

These are three different types of ball screw jacks.

MA BS SERIES TRAVELLING SCREW

This patented design has the ball screw inside the casing where lubrication can be optimised. Linear speed range is 0.1 to 250 mm/s with forces from 5 to 350 kN. Maximum input speed is 3,000 r/min and duty cycle 100%.

MA BS & SJ BS TRAVELLING NUT

These two series of ball screw jacks feature the ball nut externally mounted to the ball screw. The MA BS is oil lubricated for forces 5 to 350 kN and 100% duty, maximum input speed 3,000 r/min. The SJ BS is grease lubricated for forces 5 to 400 kN and 70 % duty, maximum input speed 1,500 r/min.

HS HIGH SPEED BALL SCREW JACKS

The HS series uses bevel gears as an alternative to the worm designs in the MA and SJ series. The results with bevel ratios between 1:1 and 1:4 are higher linear speeds up to 1 m/s. Forces range from 10 to 200 kN, duty cycles up to 100% and maximum input speed 3,000 r/min. We can supply the HS ball screw jacks complete with servo motor and controller.
