For slip-free holding in the switched position - safely and reliably

Electromagnetic toothed holding brakes are electromagnetically actuated, spur geared holding brakes with a slip-ring-free coil on bearings.

Highlights

  • High level of backlash-free torque transmission
  • Compact dimensions
  • Diverse tooth system options
  • Synchronous switching possible

Functional description

The electromagnetic toothed holding brake is actuated electromagnetically. The crown toothing can be designed differently for various application scenarios.

By applying a DC voltage to the coil, a magnetic force is generated between the magnet housing and armature plate. This pulls the armature plate against the force of the membranes in the direction of the stator. The crown toothing engages upon relative motion.

Once the DC voltage is no longer present, the magnetic field collapses and the restoring force of the membranes causes the crown toothing of the armature plate to disengage. This causes the torque transmission to be interrupted and the armature plate is held in the idling position by the membranes.
