High-performance belt for mechanical and plant engineering

The GT4 toothed belt has the highest performance in its class. Today's machines and systems often have to be designed with compact drives. The high-torque GT4 synchronous belt is ideal for this purpose. A compact belt also means compact belt pulleys, and hence a lower weight and mass inertia of the belt drive. The reduced weight facilitates mounting and reduces energy requirements for the user. The belts are available with 8MGT and 14MGT tooth pitches.

Gates developed the GT4 belt using advanced materials. It is an ethylene elastomer belt with not only an extended temperature range, but also increased chemical resistance.

Design

EPDM compound with fibreglass tensile cord inserts. The elastomer backing protects the tensile cords against environmental influences and abrasion. The nylon coating on the tooth side ensures a low coefficient of friction and protects the tooth surface against wear. The precise form and pitch of the elastomer teeth guarantee that they interlock accurately with the tooth gaps in the toothed lock washer.
