VFD Aluminum Worm Gear – Painted
The VFD worm gearbox is optionally available with a white protective coating (RAL 7035), which provides reliable corrosion protection in moderately aggressive environments.
The graph below shows the performance of an aluminum gearbox (unpainted) and a gearbox with a protective coating during a salt spray test.

*this graph is an indication, since some chemical components may be more aggressive than the salt spray test. Tests are suggested on special cases (in case use type "N series", full stainless steel gearboxes).
The horizontal axis shows time (in hours), while the vertical axis shows the degree of corrosion on the surface of the gearbox. The curve for the aluminum gearbox (unpainted) shows that the first signs of corrosion do not appear until after about 100 test hours (the curve enters the “onset of corrosion” range) and then spread rapidly (the “corrosion” range). The curve for the gearbox with a protective coating, on the other hand, shows that even after 1,200 hours in the salt spray, there are still no signs of corrosion.
