The PR range of torque limiters is designed for easy B5 mounting between IEC frame motors 63 to 180 and efficient gearboxes, typically helical and helical bevel designs.

They suit applications where the high torque required at the output of the gearbox would make torque limiting uneconomic. By mounting at the gearbox input, the required torque is reduced by a factor equal to the gear ratio.

PR torque limiters with an aluminium housing are designed to easily mount between the motor and gearbox suiting frame sizes from 63 to 180. The assembly comes with a proximity switch set to sense an overload and a trip torque pre-set to customer requirements. Compared to mounting at the output of the gearbox, the required trip torque is reduced by the gear ratio and offer a range from 3 to 720 Nm. Designed for typical applications in packaging, food processing and materials handling, PR torque limiters are backlash free with single position engagement. They are highly sensitive from the use of disc springs with a negative spring rate meaning that the residual torque drops sharply after an overload. Re-engagement is automatic, and they are maintenance free.

PR torque limiters can be supplied pre-set to release at a customer-specified torque. High sensitivity and a low residual torque are guaranteed by the disc springs with a negative spring rate.
