V-belts and ribbed V-belts for friction-fit power transmission in industrial applications

V-belt and ribbed V-belt drives transmit the torque in a friction-fit manner. Friction-fit transmission of the circumferential force takes place between the lateral V surfaces of the belt (edges) and of the groove profile of the V-belt pulley. A high belt preload force is necessary. Synchronisation is not possible. Correctly configured and serviced V-belt drives have an efficiency of around 95%.

Sheathed V-belts

Sheathed V-belts have a fabric covering over the belt body. They ensure better resistance to tensile and bending forces, as well as fatigue and impact loads. These belts exhibit a high resistance to dirt, heat, and oil.

Raw-edged V-belts

Raw-edged V-belts (FO) exhibit advantages in terms of wear behaviour, in running accuracy, and friction fit.

Moulded notch / tooth-shaped V-belt

Moulded notch V-belts are raw-edged. In addition, they also have internal toothing. The internal toothing increases the V-belt's bending flexibility and ensures a longer service life, a higher power transmission, and lower energy consumption. For new V-belt drives, we recommend moulded notch V-belts.

Types of ribbed V-belts

Ribbed V-belts are longitudinal ribs which are connected to each other via the back of the belt. The flattened belts are highly flexible. This allows small pulley diameters to be realised. MICRO-V® ribbed V-belts are suitable for a wide range of applications.
