Rigid couplings for connecting two shafts

Rigid couplings do not compensate for shaft misalignments Oscillations, vibrations, and shocks are not damped. The coupling is suitable for high temperatures.

Features

  • No compensation of shaft misalignments
  • No damping of oscillations, vibrations, or shocks
  • For medium to high torques
  • Small number of screws
  • Quick mounting
  • Self-centring
  • No axial displacement during mounting

Power range

  • Standard versions for torques from 200 to 4,300 Nm
  • Standard versions for shaft diameters from 17 mm to 80 mm

Application area / utilisation

  • Materials handling
  • General mechanical engineering
  • etc.

Mounting

Clean and lightly oil the contact surfaces of the shafts. Place rigid coupling on the shafts to be connected. Gradually tighten clamping screws in steps crosswise to the indicated tightening torque MS. The specified values for MT and FA in the table have been calculated for mounting with oil.

Caution: Do not use oil containing molybdenum disulphide or extreme-pressure additives and do not use grease. The coefficient of friction would otherwise be considerably reduced.

Disassembly

Unscrew all clamping screws. As a rule, the coupling becomes detached automatically. Otherwise, hit lightly with a hammer on the loosened screw heads in order to push the rear conical ring back.

A good turning procedure is sufficient.

Maximum permissible tolerances:

  • h8 for the shaft
  • Maximum permissible roughness depth: Rt max. 16 µm (Ra 3 µm - Rz 13 µm)
